Michael J. Morton-Regional Demand Manager, Johnson & Johnson

Michael J. Morton earned his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering at Florida A&M University. He graduated with honors while serving as President of the Student Body Senate and two consecutive terms as President of the Alpha Xi Chapter Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. He successfully led his chapter to achieve the highly coveted “Chapter of the Year” award for his fraternity. In 2006, Michael was convicted of hazing and sentenced to two years in Florida state prison. In 2008, the state supreme court overturned the conviction. Following this experience, Michael went on to work for The National Aeronautics and Space Administration as an engineer on the Space Shuttle Program. He then obtained a graduate fellowship to attend Rutgers University, where he earned a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering in 2009.

Michael began his professional career in the Global Operations Leadership Development program with Johnson & Johnson, a leading global health care company, where he held a number of positions of increasing responsibility in engineering, operations, and customer service. He is currently a Supply Chain Manager supporting over $9 billion in revenue for Janssen, the pharmaceutical unit of Johnson & Johnson

Michael believes in the principle of “paying it forward” and works to inspire others through action. He serves on the Board of Directors for Pentorship, an educational products company that provides skills-based training to incarcerated persons. He was recently appointed to the Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering advisory council for the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. He actively volunteers with Junior Achievement, the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating young people about business, economics and free enterprise. Michael is also a member, and former Secretary of the New Jersey INROADS alumni association, an organization whose mission is to develop talented underserved youth and connect them with opportunities in business and industry while preparing them for corporate and community leadership.

Michael is passionate about education, family, and fitness. You can usually find him at the library with his daughter, reading books or playing chess. In his free time, Michael trains and competes in triathlons. He and his daughter currently reside in New Jersey.
